Charles Molapisi

Charles Molapisi is a distinguished telecommunications executive known for leading large-scale digital transformations and leading operating companies in the MTN Group. His career at MTN is marked by his tenure as Chief Information Officer at MTN Nigeria, where he spearheaded digital transformation initiatives and the deployment of enterprise solutions. Between 2015 and 2018, Molapisi served as the CEO of MTN Zambia, orchestrating a comprehensive business turnaround that earned him the "CEO of the Year" accolade across the MTN Group. Under his leadership, MTN Zambia was also recognized as the best operating company within the group for 2018. Following this success, he transitioned to the role of Group Chief Technology and Information Officer from 2019 to 2021, where he was instrumental in the strategic rollout of 5G technology, the optimization of capital expenditure, rollout of the cyber security program and the modernization of API and data infrastructure.
In 2022, Molapisi was appointed CEO of MTN South Africa, a role he held through 2025. During this period, he focused on strengthening network resilience, accelerating the growth of home broadband services, and implementing rigorous cost efficiencies while expanding enterprise service offerings. His leadership was critical in navigating a competitive landscape. In November 2025, he returned to the group level as the Group CTIO. In this current capacity, he is tasked with leading a new frontier of technological evolution for the organization, primarily focusing on driving systemic value creation through the orchestration and integration of Artificial Intelligence across all operational markets. Molapisi is an avid cyclist and has participated in major cycling races across the country
