About ODA

The future of telecoms IT and network systems created for our Members, by our Members

What is Open Digital Architecture?

Open Digital Architecture (ODA) is a blueprint to build flexible, cloud-based telecom and enterprise IT systems. Developed by our Members, it provides the foundation for operators to simplify enterprise architecture designs, modernize software build for a plug and play ecosystem and automate IT and network operations.

Overcome critical challenges of cost and agility
1

Reduce the need for RFPs

Replace individual, time consuming RFPs by enabling rapid proofs-of-concept build with ODA conformant software components on a standard canvas environment.

2

Leave legacy systems behind

By providing a framework for modernization and integration, ODA's component-based approach allows for the replacement of older systems with more agile ones.

3

Common ways of working

Common business frameworks and processes mean we’re all talking the same language when it comes making every step seamless, agile and efficient.

4

Increase speed to market

The ability to reuse existing platform capabilities and automate customer journeys lead to faster development and deployment.

5

Reduce cost

By streamlining operations, automating processes, and enabling zero-touch deployments, ODA can significantly reduce operational costs.

What does that mean for me?

Get ahead, get informed and get the rewards for being at the forefront of an AI-native world. ODA helps transform the telecoms industry, benefitting every aspect of your business at every step along the journey:

  • For Business leaders and strategists
  • Enterprise architects and software developers responsible for the applications that support products and services
  • And the IT operations teams responsible for running all the systems.

As networks become more software-centric, the benefits of ODA are becoming relevant to new audiences.

ODA Governance describes the activities applied throughout the project lifecycle that ensure under-construction solutions adhere to ODA principles.

Business Architecture represents the suite of building blocks that provide context for how the organization delivers value to its stakeholders.

Information Systems Architecture provides the systems and data view within ODA. It contains the Functional Architecture, the Functional Framework and the Information Framework.

The Deployment & Runtime area of ODA provides guidance on how to turn a well-documented enterprise architecture into a real-world solution.

Here we define the Open APIs and reusable Components needed to evolve BSS and OSS systems into agile, cloud native solutions.

Governance

A series of accessible guides and overviews that can help users manage the DevOps cycle. Governance is essential for creating a consistent approach to the lifecycle management of an organization’s products and services. It provides standards, policies and guidelines to reduce risk, and to ensure security and regulatory compliance.

Business architecture

Discover the suite of building blocks that deliver value to stakeholders including the business process framework (eTOM), capability framework and value stream framework to get the best results for your business. Improve strategic decision making, communication between business & IT teams and alignment of stakeholders and implementation strategies.

Information systems

This is the place for enterprise architects to discover ODA's information framework (SID), data architecture and functional framework.

Implementation overview

For engineers, this section introduces you to ODA's approach to creating IT and network systems from reusable, microservices-based software components. Discover how to save your team time and money through zero touch interoperability, and explore and understand Open APIs.
